PATCHOGUE, NY — Renovations to the East Patchogue corridor are moving forward after a decade and that includes the demolition of the catering hall, Mediterranean Manor, a popular wedding site that is being transformed into a 91-unit luxury apartment complex, as reported by GreaterLongIsland.com.

Brookhaven Town’s Planning Board unanimously approved a site plan for Rechler Equity Partners, a real estate development company, to go ahead with its $40 million Greybarn Patchogue complex, which will earmark 10 percent of the units for affordable workforce housing, according to the report.

The project, which is slated for construction sometime in the late summer or early fall, also includes recreation rooms, an outdoor pool and shareable workspaces for those who work from home. The developer will also donate a 1-acre plot at 312 E. Main St. to the town, according to Brookhaven Councilman Neil Foley.

The Patchogue Arts Council will lease the plot from the town to establish an arts center, according to the GLI report.

“I’ve worked with the arts council, I’ve worked with the community,” Foley said to GLI. “They’re excited to have a space that will be a wonderful learning experience for creative people.”
Mediterranean Manor had been a staple for the community for nearly 60 years, but closed in August 2021 after being shut down for over a year because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to The Suffolk County News.

“Thank you all for being part of a legacy that will never be forgotten,” said the owners on the website of Mediterranean Manor, which was located at 303 E. Main St. “After 56 years of catering to the news of our families and friends, it is with a positive step forward, we ambitiously turn the page … farewell.”
