Gas Main Break Causes Route 25A Road Closures Near Port Jefferson

A business's gas main broke, causing all lanes to close on the nearby stretch of Route 25A.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — A gas main break caused all lanes to close on Route 25A in the Port Jefferson area on Friday, Suffolk police told Patch.

Officers were called to a gas leak at a business on Main Street near Sheep Pasture Road in Port Jefferson at 10:42 a.m., police said.

Lanes in both directions at North Country Road; Sheep Pasture Road (Brookhaven) and Reeves Road; Stonyhill Road (Port Jefferson) are set to reopen at midnight, according to 511 NY.
