19-Year-Old Robbed At Knifepoint In Riverhead: Police

His Oakley sunglasses were forcibly removed, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A 19-year-old was robbed at knifepoint in Riverhead Sunday night, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, a call came in at about 9:55 p.m. from the male, who said he had been robbed on Griffing Avenue near Railroad Avenue.

When police arrived, he said that a man had displayed a knife, demanded money, and forcibly removed his Oakley sunglasses before fleeing the area on foot, officials said.

The 19-year-old was able to provide responding officers with a description of the man, and Riverhead police officers located and detained him, police said.

Noah McDermott,36, who is without a known address, was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree robbery, police said. McDermott was processed on the charge and held for arraignment, police said.
