Ambulance, Car Collide In Riverhead, 4 Hurt

The crash took place at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A car crashed into an ambulance in Riverhead Wednesday afternoon, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, the crash took place at 1:30 p.m at the intersection on Country Road 105 and New York State Route 25 when a 2006 Lexus, heading south on Rt. 105, collided with a Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps vehicle traveling east.

Three volunteer personnel were in the ambulance at the time of the crash; all were taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of their injuries, police said. The driver of the Lexus was also transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment; all injuries were non-life-threatening, police said.
