RIVERHEAD, NY — A gunshot was fired at a Riverhead apartment complex Friday, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, at 3:50 p.m., a call came in about a man with a gun in the west side parking lot of Riverpoint Apartments on East Main Street.

A single gunshot was fired and a number of disturbances took place at various areas of the apartment complex as a result, police said.

The scene of the shooting was secured and no injuries were reported, police said.

Witnesses said before the shooting, there were numerous disputes between residents of the complex and non-residents, police added.

The Riverhead Police Department's detective division was notified and responded, as did the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department, to assist the Riverhead Police Department with large groups of subjects that had formed due to the shooting and subsequent disturbances, police said.
