Man Who Damaged Property On LI Arrested After 'Months On The Run": PD

RIVERHEAD, NY — A Mastic man was arrested months after he damaged a gate at an apartment complex in Riverhead, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, on August 26, 2023, police responded to the East Main Street complex after a report of a vehicle entrance gate being damaged.

Robert J. Dozier, 40, was identified as the person who damaged the gate; subsequently, an arrest warrant was attained through the Riverhead Town Justice Court for Dozier's arrest, police said.

After "months of being on the run" from law enforcement, Dozier was arrested by Riverhead police on Tuesday on the active arrest warrant, police said.

Dozier was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and held for arraignment in Riverhead Town Justice Court.
