Mom Walking With Daughter, 7, Baby In Stroller, Hit By Car On LI: PD

The woman was airlifted for treatment of her injuries and her 7-year-old daughter was also hurt, police say.

AQUEBOGUE, NY — A mother walking with her baby in a stroller and her daughter, 7, was hit by a car Tuesday night in Aquebogue, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, the incident took place at 8:13 p.m. on West Lane, south of Chris Court.

A woman, 66, driving a 2015 Cadillac north on West Lane, struck the mother, 38, of Aquebogue, police said. The mother had been walking north on West Lane with her daughter — as well as with her son, four months old, who was in the baby stroller.

Both the mother and her 7-year old daughter sustained injuries as a result of the collision, police said.

The Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the scene to treat them; the mother was then airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital by the Suffolk County Police Department's aviation unit for treatment of her injuries, police said.

Both children were also transported to Stony Brook University Hospital by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and observation, police said.

The driver of the Cadillac was not injured, police said.

The Riverhead Police Department's detective division and the New York State Police Department's forensic investigation unit both responded to the scene to assist in the investigation, which is not considered to be criminal, police said.

No criminal charges are pending against the driver of the Cadillac, police said.
