Motorcylist Dies After Crashing Into LI Home: Police

RIVERHEAD, NY — A Calverton motorcyclist died after crashing into a home in Riverhead Saturday night, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, the crash took place at about 8:55 p.m. near Grove Street and South Oakland Drive. A motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Grove St., crossed over South Oakland Drive, and struck a residence, police said.

The driver, Phillippe Robinette, 40, of Calverton, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps, police said. While being treated at Peconic Bay Medical Center Mr. Robinette succumbed to his injuries, police added.

The Riverhead Police Department's detective division and the New York State Police Department's accident reconstruction team responded to assist with the investigation; the crash appeared to be non-criminal, police said.
