More Than 7,000 Power Outages Reported As Nor'easter Slams LI
Heavy rain and wind gusts up to 50 mph are pounding the island.
More than 7,000 PSEG Long Island customers were without power Wednesday night as a powerful nor'easter slammed the region. As of 10 p.m., 7,082 outages were reported, according to the PSEG outage map.
"We're prepared for the heavy rain + strong winds that have begun to impact our area," PSEG Long Island said its Facebook page. "This storm system has been forecasted to bring up to 3 inches of rain and wind gusts of over 40 mph - which could cause outages."
A wind advisory has been expanded to cover the entire island and is in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday. A 51 mph wind gust was recorded in Blue Point at 9:25 p.m., according to National Weather Service reports.

Due to low-hanging wires near Central Islip, Ronkonkoma Branch service on Long Island Rail Road was suspended Wednesday night between Deer Park and Ronkonkoma in both directions.

Friday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 59. Northwest wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.
Friday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 46. Northwest wind 9 to 14 mph.
Saturday- Sunny, with a high near 59.
Saturday Night- Clear, with a low around 49.
Sunday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 66.
