Pedestrian Killed In Suffolk Crash

Suffolk County police said a man was killed in Ridge after being hit by the driver of a sport utility vehicle.

RIDGE, NY — A pedestrian was killed in a Ridge crash early Tuesday, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the crash happened at 12:30 a.m. on Route 25, east of William Floyd Parkway.

A Ridge man was driving a 2012 Kia Sorento westbound on Route 25 when the vehicle struck a man in the roadway, police said.

The pedestrian, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The driver, 34, of Ridge, was not injured and no charges were filed, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
