'I Am Elated': Tim Hubbard Wins Riverhead Supervisor's Race: BOE

RIVERHEAD, NY — Tim Hubbard has won the race for Riverhead Town supervisor.

Although early results had Angela DeVito, a Democrat, in the lead, when all the votes were tallied, according to unofficial results by the Suffolk County Board of Elections, Tim Hubbard, a Republican and incumbent town councilman, had 5,138 votes, or 59.45 percent, compared to DeVito's 3,496 votes or 40.54 percent.

"I am elated!" Hubbard told Patch. "I’m so honored to have the support of the residents of our great town. We ran a clean campaign and stuck to the high road. The electoral process worked the way it is supposed to. I look forward to working with the new board members and can’t wait to get started."

In the results for town board, Republican Denise Merrifield won with 4,992 votes or 29.94 percent; Republican Joann Waski also won her seat with 4,875 votes or 29.24 percen. Democrats Rene Suprina received 3,463 votes or 20.77 percent, and Dem Andrew Leven garnered 3,338 votes, or 20.02 percent.

The race for town clerk saw former town councilman Jim Wooten, a Republican emerge the winner with 4,950 votes, or 57.77 percent, compared to the 3,615 votes, or 42.19 percent garnered by Democrat Josephine Makowski.
