Long Island Weather Forecast: 'Potential For Plowable Snow Increasing'

BREAKING: A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for Long Island as a potential snowstorm is now in this week's forecast.

Long Island was spared snow for Super Bowl Sunday, and Tuesday will feature plenty of rain, but none of the white stuff. But don't despair, snow lovers, there could be a hefty dose of snow coming later in the week.

The National Weather Service has issued the following hazardous weather outlook for the island:

There is the potential for a winter storm late Wednesday night into Thursday. The potential for plowable snow is increasing and there is the possibility for 6 or more inches. Uncertainty with this storm is high as the atmosphere dynamics that will potentially cause the storm to develop along our coast are still out over the Pacific Ocean. This storm, if it does develop, should be a fast mover and be out to sea by Thursday afternoon.
