Riverhead Gets Ready to Rumble with the Harlem Wizards
Riverhead Elementary School Treated to Visits from Harlem Wizards in Preparation for Game Between Teachers and Wizards
RIVERHEAD, NEW YORK (NOVEMBER 2023) — The Harlem Wizards recently paid a visit to each of the Riverhead Central School District elementary schools to instill positive values and garner excitement for their upcoming game on November 9th against Riverhead teachers. The Harlem Wizards are a show basketball team dedicated to hosting fundraising events for schools and nonprofit organizations across the country.
“There is a great deal of excitement brewing for the game between our teachers and the Harlem Wizards,” said Riverhead Central School District Interim Superintendent Cheryl Pedisich. “Students cannot wait to see our educators out on the court as all of the schools in our District will come together to celebrate our District community and the values of cooperation, dedication and resolve.”
A different Harlem Wizard visited each of the elementary schools in preparation for the game. Aquebogue Elementary School was treated to a fun assembly with Harlem Wizard Tishean “Fresh Prince” Emmanuel. He enhanced enthusiasm for the upcoming match against the teachers and encouraged students to have the courage to take bold risks and try new activities. With this message in mind, he invited select students and teachers to test their basketball skills in front of their peers. Students eagerly learned new skills from the Harlem Wizard and gained the confidence to put them into practice before an audience.

“The Wizards have provided a valuable opportunity for our students and their families to see the power and importance of teamwork and fair play,” said Aquebogue Elementary School Principal Bryan Miltenberg.
