Riverhead Students Selected for the NYSCAME 2023 All-County Ensembles

Five Riverhead High School Students in the NYSCAME High School All-County Festival

RIVERHEAD, NEW YORK (NOVEMBER 2023)—Five Riverhead High School students were selected to participate in the Suffolk County chapter of the New York State Council of Administrators of Music Education (NYSCAME) High School All-County Festival. Senior euphonium player Christopher Carver, senior chorus singer Ethan Caskie, senior violinist Rose Green, junior chorus singer Noah Lake and junior treble choir singer Cheyanne Metzger will be heading to the festival in November. The students were selected based on their NYSSMA scores and music teacher recommendations from band teacher Joseph Randazzo, orchestra teacher Marisa Macchio and chorus teacher Leandra Wahlen, respectively.

“The students have worked extremely hard to earn the honor of being selected to these groups,” said Riverhead Central School District Director of Fine Arts Jason Rottkamp. “Their incredible work ethic and dedication has been crafted over many years and with the assistance of supportive families and teachers. Congratulations to all of them!”

The NYSCAME High School All-County Festival is an annual event held across New York State. The Suffolk County chapter of the festival is hosted by the Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association and recognizes students across Suffolk County who have demonstrated musical excellence in the classroom. In considering students, teachers must consider a variety of factors, such as NYSSMA solo score, work ethic and dedication. These five students embody the necessary qualities that helped them achieve this honor.
