Wading River Deli Burglarized On Memorial Day: PD

The burglary took place Monday night; the thief broke the front door window and stole a cash register, police say.

WADING RIVER, NY — A Wading River deli was burglarized on Memorial Day night, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, the incident took place at 11:35 p.m. when the owner of Nik's Nook Deli on Hulse Landing Road called in to report the burglary in progress.

Officers responded and discovered that someone had broken the front door window and entered the building, removed a cash register with about $100 inside — and then left in an unknown direction, police said.
