Wading River Home Gutted By Fire: Police

RIVERHEAD, NY — A home in Wading River was gutted by fire Friday night.

According to Riverhead Town police, a call came in at 10:36 p.m. about a house fire on North Wading River Road. Upon arrival, responding Riverhead Police Department officers and members of the Wading River Fire Department saw the residence, located adjacent to the Wading River Cemetery, fully engulfed by fire, police said.

No residents were home at the time of the fire but responded to the scene upon being notified, police said.

The Wading River Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire without further incident and without any reported injuries, police said.

The Riverhead Police Department's detective division, Riverhead Town fire marshals and Suffolk County Police Department's arson squad detectives also responded to the scene for further investigation, police said.
