Woman Airlifted After Riverhead Crash: Police

RIVERHEAD, NY — A woman was airlifted after a Riverhead crash Saturday, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, the crash took place at 8:02 a.m. on Sound Ave. east of Dolphin Way. Danyelle McMillan-Mahabir was driving west in a red 2008 Honda Accord when she crossed over the double yellow line and collided with a white 2016 Dodge utility truck driven east by Michael Manfredo, police said.

McMillan-Mahabir was ejected from the vehicle and treated at the scene by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps before being transported to Stony Brook University Hospital by Suffolk County Police Department's aviation unit, police said.

Manfredo was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The Riverhead Police Department's detective division and the New York State Police's accident reconstruction team were notified and responded to the scene to assist with the investigation, police said.

Police did not immediately provide the ages of McMillan-Mahabir or Manfredo, or the towns where they live.
