The NYS DEC has certified that a brownfield site on Lawrence Street in unincorporated Greenburgh (Ardsley) has been cleaned up to a non-residential reuse standard. This location is across the street from Life The Place to Be – a special event venue for parties, receptions and events. It’s a few seconds away from the Sawmill River Parkway.

Although the property has been cleaned up the town has not received any notification from the property owners as to what they propose to develop on the site. Over the years I have suggested a solar farm and hope that will be considered by the owners. In 2016 there was significant community opposition to 272 apartments on this site. Residents had expressed concern about traffic, impacts to the Ardsley School district and the stress on first responders. The site is zoned GI District General Industrial.

When the owner has interest for re-use of the site it will approach the Town regarding process (site plan approval, special permit, etc.). Any proposed reuse of the site will involve a process of referral to the municipalities within 500 ft of the site.

Although the property is in unincorporated Greenburgh, I have advised the Mayor of Ardsley and Village Board that as soon as the town hears from the owners of the property that the village will be contacted
