The Children’s Village Will Host Juneteenth Celebration On Friday

Festivities will feature an afternoon of games, recreation music, African beading, face mask painting, double dutch and hair oil making.

DOBBS FERRY, NY — Juneteenth will be marked with special zeal by a group used to doing special things for the Westchester community.

The Children’s Village says that it will be celebrating Juneteenth on Friday with a vibrant mix of activities, entertainment and cultural tributes.

The event will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the Lanza Lawn of The Children's Village, located at One Echo Hills in Dobbs Ferry.

Organizers say that the festivities will feature an afternoon of games, recreation and music. Attendees will be able to enjoy a variety of activities such as bingo, African beading, face mask painting, double dutch, hair oil making, bear painting, tie-dye, face painting, and field games.

In addition, there will be delicious offerings from Cravin Jamaican Restaurant, Off the Hook Restaurant, Lost Borough Ice Cream, and Little Village Lemonade Stand.

The celebration will open with an Ancestor Libation Tribute by Baba Timeke AmenRa, followed by a warm welcome and live band introductions by Empress E’Toy. The program will include a performance of "Lift Every Voice & Sing" by Belle Entertainment, a violin solo by Classique, a mix by Otis J featuring Jay So and Pretty Boy Summer, and a Juneteenth poem by Alphonso Kenny. Inspirational songs, a pageant speech by Chowannie Singh, and a drumline by Brooklyn United will also be part of the festivities.
