Greenburgh has the 2nd largest Ukrainian population in Westchester. All the members of the Greenburgh Town Board have highlighted our support of the Ukrainian community. At every Town Board meeting since Russia invaded Ukraine – Board members have had a moment of silence in memory of those who have lost their lives. We have also flown the Ukrainian flag outside Town Hall and E Hartsdale Ave at times to highlight our support.

Ukrainian students' education is so much different as their main goal after graduation is peace in their homeland.

An article in the January Rotary Magazine titled "In Ukraine, bullets pierce through childhood." The article relates how a New Hampshire based aid organization, Common Man for Ukraine, has helped Ukrainian children who have had a parent killed in the war. Susan Mathison, co-founder of Common Man describes Ukraine as "a complex puzzle of terror and normalcy and its people have both fear and courage, along with an unshakable spirit." Among this population are an estimated 1.5 million children. It is the Rotary Club's goal to help these children, as they traverse their educational years. Tony Russo of Irvington is co-chair of the event. We thank him and fellow Rotarians for his efforts helping others.
