1. Weekend weather report brings cooler temperatures, sunny skies. It will be a much different weekend in terms of weather, as the warm front has officially left the region. Expect temperatures in the low to mid 40s all weekend with sunny skies. (Weather.com)
2. Groundhog 'Holtsville Hog' getting ready for his big day. Hundreds are expected to gather at the Holtsville Ecology Site on Feb. 2 to witness Brookhaven Town Highways Supt. Dan Losquadro announce the little guy's weather prediction. “I’m always hopeful Hal will predict an early spring to help my snow removal budget, but either way this is a much-anticipated event each year in Brookhaven Town," he said. 3. ICYMI: Hit-and-run victim identified. The victim from Wednesday's crash on Dare Road has been identified as an 18-year-old Selden man. He was hit while riding his e-bike and was seriously injured. The driver fled and we will keep you updated on his condition. (Sachem Patch)
