  1. Seneca Middle School teacher fired for 'inappropriate lesson'. "It was brought to our attention today, that yesterday a 7th grade science leave replacement teacher at Seneca Middle School used poor judgment while introducing new material on anatomy, "Sachem Superintendent Christopher Pellettieri told parents. “An inappropriate activity was utilized in three separate classes yesterday. This individual will not return to the classroom and will no longer be an employee of the district."(1010 WINS)
  2. Long Island food insecurity shows an alarming increase year-over-year. In 2022, Long Island Cares distributed 1,041,765 meals to 115,699 visitors, some of whom were repeats, at its five satellites across the island. In 2021, those numbers were significantly lower with 647,844 meals given to 73,896 visitors. The food bank handed out 60 percent more meals last year than in 2021. (Huntington Patch)

  • Sachem Schools: On Wednesday, senior Matthew Grimaldi won the Suffolk County boys bowling singles competition. Grimaldi, who averages 225, competed against all bowlers in Suffolk County and beat them all. This earns Matt an automatic spot on the Suffolk County state all-star competition, which competes in Syracuse later this year. (Facebook)
