  1. Sachem students create cards to support Meals on Wheels. Students in Patricia Puls’ art classes at Hiawatha Elementary School created cards to accompany the meal trays delivered to homebound residents as part of the Meals on Wheels program. They created “Thinking of You,” “Get Well Soon,” birthday and holiday cards to be delivered. (Press Release Desk)
  2. Holbrook man fatally injured dog with kick. The man fatally kicked the dog and threatened the owner last month at his Dolphin Lane home. According to the necropsy, 11-year-old "Jager" suffered blunt force trauma from the kick. Scott Walker, 44, was charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, animal cruelty, criminal mischief, second-degree aggravated harassment, and third-degree coercion. (Sachem Patch)
  3. Sachem High School East kicks Off Ride for Life. The student government hosted Christine Pendergast, the wife of ALS Ride for Life founder Chris Pendergast, and Paul Weisman who has been battling the disease for 10 years. They will carry out a walk with several other Sachem schools in May, ALS Awareness Month. (Press Release Desk)

  • Sachem Schools: "50 students from Sachem HS East recently visited Tecumseh Elementary School, part of Eastern Suffolk BOCES, for some holiday fun. Members of Student Government, Project Spectrum and the Art and Music Honor Societies sang Christmas carols, participated in arts and crafts, painted faces, played games and served hot chocolate to the elementary students."
