Memorial Day Memory

Memorial Day Memory

On Memorial Day it is time to honor those soldiers that gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Losing a cousin , blown up in Belgium at the age of 19 ,just 3 months before the end of WWII , unfortunately never gave closure to my father dying before we discovered his grave buried in Europe.

For my father ,a WWII veteran serving in North Africa and Italy ,it was a day of quiet remembrance of his buddies that died. He rarely spoke of war experiences, spent time decorating graves and regularly visited the Veterans Hospitals in Jamaica, Queens bringing books and exchanging quality time , especially to a generation dying and being long forgotten.

For family and friends of veterans ,who keep their war time private ,it is a chance to honor and respect their independent personal memories with sincere appreciation and "Thank You's"
