'Sweet And Petite' Rosemary: Smithtown Adoptable Pet Of The Week

SMITHTOWN, NY — Rosemary, a 1-and-a-half-to-2-year-old female brown tabby, is the Smithtown Animal Shelter's Pet of the Week.

She is sweet and petite, the shelter wrote. She was brought to the shelter as a stray.

"She is shy and hesitant at first," the shelter wrote. "However, once she lets her guard down you will quickly learn how much she adores a good petting on the top of her head and face. When she's hungry, Rosemary lets out the cutest little chirp, and is quickly getting comfortable around humans everyday. Rosemary would do best in a quiet home with older cats and possibly dogs. Welcoming this furry little companion into your heart and home will be rewarded with lots of love and purr-fection!"

There are currently a variety of male and female cats and kittens available to adopt or foster.

"If you are looking for a fun-loving, yarn-tossing ball of love, stop by the Kitten Nursery or the Cat Condos at the Smithtown Animal Shelter and find a PURR-fect soulmate or two," the shelter stated.

All of the felines at the shelter are current on vaccines and have received a full workup (blood work, Feline HIV & Leukemia tested, physical exam etc.) by a board-certified veterinarian.

Hours are currently Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays and Wednesday evenings are by appointment only.

The Smithtown Animal Shelter's primary concern is finding the perfect home for each animal that finds his/her way to it. The Animal Control Officers and kennel attendants at the Smithtown Animal Shelter will go out of their way to ensure both the rescued and rescuer are made for one another. If you have other pets, you can arrange to bring your four-legged family member into the shelter or they can set up an at-home meet & greet to see how your prospective new addition does with other family members, pets or the household itself.

The shelter is also seeking foster volunteers. Foster parents provide temporary care for cats, kittens and dogs in their own homes. Some animals need as little as two weeks of care, while others may need care for an extended time.
