ESL Adult Literacy Tutors
Many new residents of the Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow community are unable to speak English. Eager to learn, they come to the Warner Library and ask for help from Literacy Volunteers of the Tarrytowns. This organization has helped hundreds to speak, read, and write English, but it can't do it all without the help of its volunteer tutors! Volunteer tutors must commit to tutoring 2 hours per week for a full year, be at least 19 years old, and complete an online training (a refundable $25 fee). No prior teaching experience or knowledge of a foreign language is required but volunteers must be fluent in English.
Date: Flexible schedule
Organization: Literacy Volunteers of the Tarrytowns
Location: Tarrytown

Outdoor Film Screening and Live Music Volunteers
GARNER Arts Center and Rivertown Film are looking for volunteers to help with their annual outdoor film screening and live music event. This is a great opportunity for volunteers to get involved in local arts and cultural events at one of the region's most unique historic sites. Volunteers are needed to assist with pre-event setup (folding chairs, signage, waste bins, audio/visual equipment setup), event support (box office, concessions), and event breakdown. Volunteers must be 18+.

This opportunity is ideal for college students studying psychology and behavioral health.
