Three Village Library To Host Taiko Drumming Performance Wednesday

The traditional Japanese interactive show will be at 7 p.m. at the Emma S. Clark Memorial Library.

THREE VILLAGE, NY — Wednesday night at Emma S. Clark Memorial Library in Setauket there will be an outdoor Japanese performance.

The Taiko Drums of Japan performance, that showcases traditional and contemporary drumming, and it will be at 7 p.m., located at 120 Main St.

The family-friendly event is an interactive show that also includes folk dance and storytelling, according to Susan Perez, a librarian within the Children’s Department.

“They tell a story through the drums and props,” Perez said to Patch. “The last time they were here they had all these different props. It was very entertaining and it was good.”

One story will be of "The Drums of Noto Hanto," said Perez.

"It's the true story of how the Japanese fought off the samurai with their drumming," Perez added.

There is no registration required for the event, according to the library. If it rains, the event will be moved indoors.
