Assistant High School Principal In Montco Passes Away At 56

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The local community is mourning the passing of a longtime school administrator and educator.

Cosimo Fiorino, of Willow Grove, Pa., died Wednesday at 56 years old.

A cause of death was not released.

"It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Abington Senior High School Assistant Principal, Mr. Cosimo Fiorino, a longtime member of our Abington School District family," the district posted to Facebook.

Fiorino began working for the Abington Township School District back in the mid-1990s, and served as a teacher, athletic director and, up until his passing, assistant high school principal, according to his obituary.

He was married to Ivette Z. Fiorino, with whom he had children Cassandra, Joseph and Nicholas, his obituary states.

He is also survived by five siblings and "many loving nieces and nephews," his obituary reads.

Before becoming an administrator, Fiorino was a teacher in both the math department and alternative education program at Abington, according to a bio on the school district website.

Fiorino, a graduate of Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster, Bucks County, had a master's degree in education leadership from Arcadia University in Montgomery County.

His bio says that Fiorino was a dedicated educator who looked "forward to the challenges of providing wisdom and guidance to young adults both at home and at Abington. His goal is to create responsible citizen[s] who dedicate their lives to be lifelong learners."

A viewing has been scheduled for relatives and friends this coming Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at John J. Bryers Funeral Home, located at 406 Easton Road in Willow Grove.

Another viewing will take place next Tuesday morning between 9:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. at St. David Church, located at 316 Easton Road in Willow Grove, and a funeral service will follow starting at 10:30 a.m.

Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
