Man Sought For Saturday Afternoon Shooting In Bala Cynwyd

Police said the man and a woman sped off in a black Dodge Durango after a shooting on Saturday afternoon at 2 Bala Plaza.

BALA CYNWYD, PA — Police in Lower Merion Township are looking for a man involved in a shooting incident that occurred Saturday in Bala Cynwyd.

According to police, shots were fired at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of 2 Bala Plaza, 333 E. City Ave. in Bala Cynwyd.

Police heard the shots and headed to the area, but while en route to the scene they saw a vehicle speeding out of the parking lot.

Police following the vehicle onto Interstate 76 east, and Pennsylvania State Police then took over the chase.

The driver of the fleeing vehicle, a man, later ran off into Philadelphia on foot and the passenger, a woman, was taken into custody. Police said the woman had an illegal firearm on her.

Police were unable to provide the woman's identity or charges filed against her, however police said the incident did not involve any Lower Merion residents.

The driver has been identified and police are working to take him into custody.

According to police, the driver got into an altercation with another man in the parking lot, which led to the shooting.

The vehicle that fled the area was a black Dodge Durango, police said.

Police said no one appears to have been hit during the shooting.
