American Family Market — 230 Haverford Ave., Narberth

"When no one had toilet paper at the beginning of the pandemic, AFM sent me all I needed. They have all the basics that the big stores did not, plus S usual the best hand-cut prime meats and freshest seafoods, fresh hand sliced deli, delicacies and gourmet goods (a full variety of DiBruno cheese, crackers, and sauces, the finest imported pastas, the very best Italian hoagies in the area (with prosciutto and imported sharp provolone and the south Philly baked crisp top hoagie rolls with homemade sweet and hot peppers), homemade Italian prepared foods (meat balls, eggplant parm, etc.) the freshest Lancaster County poultry, NJ farm produce esp. in season (one of the owners lives at the Jersey shore year round and stops at the farm stands she knows on her way to Narberth. It is owned for the past 50+ years by Paul Bovo, who despite being in his 80s is at the deli counter 7 days a week and operates the store with 1 long-time employee and his daughter Gina who drives in from Margate 7 days a week. They know what I need and want even if I forget to put it on my list (they either call me to find out why I omitted the item or just add it to my order on their own). I fax my order in and phone when I am ready to pick it up, and they curbside it into the trunk of my care the minute I arrive. It doesn’t get more hometown or friendly and I love them not as grocers but part of my family. It’s like out of a Norman Rockwell scene! Thank God for Paul, Gina & Joe."

"My grandsons & I have spent many happy hours there over the years, choosing birthday & Christmas gifts. The selection is thoughtful and eclectic, with a real effort to carry 'green' toys and avoid those advertised on TV. The Brio selection, the stuffed animal selection, and the art & science & music selections are particularly fine, as is the newly-expanded book selection. Service is friendly and relaxed!"

"This local pizzeria has the most delicious pizza, steaks and hoagies. Their courteous curbside carry out and delivery service are great. They are so clean and strictly follows COVID precautions. Five star place!"
