Doylestown's Shae Cited As Star Student: Here’s Why

We all know students who excel in academic, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Doylestown.

(T-Mobile; Patch)

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from James Davey who nominated Doylestown resident Shae, a 12th grade student at the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology..

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Sienna (Shae) is a student in the multimedia technology program at Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT) and demonstrates exceptional proficiency, mastered more than 200 tasks from design layout, typography and web design to audio production, video production and digital media composition. Shae has also attained several ACA Adobe certifications including Adobe Photoshop and Premiere, and has an OSHA General Safety certification, and is working on their Adobe After Effects certification.

Shae is a dedicated learner and leader who never hesitating to accept new challenges. Last year, Shae was a member of MBIT’s "Philanthropy Today," a student organization that supports community by allocating funds for children and families in the foster community, to help lessen addiction and substance abuse, and to support mental health enterprises. One significant initiative that Shae lead was the redesign, decoration, and refurnishing of the victim’s waiting room in the Bucks County District Attorney’s office.

Outside of the classroom, Shae assumed the role of student mentor to several first level students during Lunch-and-Learn sessions, promoting skill, providing insights and guidance. As a Girl Scout, Shae contributes to their troop in a bi-annual trash cleanup — to keep forests clean. Shae received a Bronze (sewing pillowcases for CHOP patients), Silver (spreading awareness against animal testing), and is currently working on a Gold Award (producing a marching band recruitment video). Shae’s Girl Scout troop created a Daisy troop to help expand their service unit while teaching younger children about the importance of respect, responsibility, and kindness.
