Lower Moreland Among Communities Upgrading To LED Streetlights

LED streetlights will be installed in 35 communities in the Philadelphia area, including Lower Moreland, saving nearly $1 million per year.

LOWER MORELAND, PA -- LED streetlights will be installed in 35 communities in the Philadelphia area, leading to savings of nearly $1 million per year, according to estimates from the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC).

The Regional Streetlight Procurement Program, spearheaded by the DVRPC, is part of an intergovernmental cooperative arrangement between the participating municipalities.

The project will install more than 26,000 LED streetlights, exterior lights, and traffic signals. The changes will lead to reductions of 10,000 megawatt hours, 5,4000 metric tons of CO2 emissions, and nearly a $1 million in energy costs, the DVRPC said.
