PennDOT, Safety Partners to Discuss Aggressive-Driving Enforcement

Officials will meet today in Norristown to discuss the enforcement of aggressive driving behavior such as running red lights, speeding and tailgating.

PennDOT and its safety partners, the Montgomery County Health Department, Buckle Up PA, the Pennsylvania State Police and municipal police, will hold a news conference and enforcement event at 1 p.m. today in East Norriton, Montgomery County, to highlight a statewide aggressive-driving campaign that runs through Aug. 16.

Representatives will discuss the enforcement, which will target motorists exhibiting aggressive-driving behaviors such as running red lights, speeding and tailgating. The campaign’s complementary education efforts will emphasize that distracted drivers can exhibit aggressive-driving behaviors.

PennDOT data for Montgomery County shows that in 2011, 25 people were killed in crashes involving aggressive driving.
