Moon Wins National Honor For Music Education

A foundation has recognized Moon's music education program as among the nation's best.

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA - The Moon Area School District has been lauded as one of the nation’s Best Communities For Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation.

Moon was one of 12 Allegheny County school districts to be awarded with the foundation’s highest honor this year. Across the country, the organization recognized 623 districts in 41 states.

Now in its 20th year, the foundation program honors schools and school districts for outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders and their support for music education as part of the core curriculum.

To qualify for the award, districts must provide information regarding funding, graduation requirements, facilities, participation in music classes, and more. Responses are verified and reviewed by The Institute for Educational Research and Public Service of Lawrence, Kansas, an affiliate of the University of Kansas.
