2 Arrested For Suspected DUI, Flim-Flam Incident: Newtown Twp. Police

The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between June 7 and 13.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between June 7 and 13:

June 7

  • At approximately 11 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Toyota Camry operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Durham Road and North Drive. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

  • Police were dispatched to McCaffrey’s Food Market around 7:30 p.m. for the report of a flim-flam incident. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

June 9

  • Police were dispatched to Acme Market around 6:30 p.m. for the report of an attempted gift card fraud. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

  • Police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence at 9:45 a.m. for the report of a theft from a mailbox. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

June 12

  • The Newtown-Makefield Truck Enforcement Unit conducted a commercial vehicle safety detail in the area of Lookout Park in Upper Makefield Township. The unit is made up of officers from Newtown Township, Newtown Borough and Upper Makefield. During the detail, six trucks were stopped and inspected and two warnings were issued for violations that were found.
  • At approximately 10:25 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan Altima driver for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Durham Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
