4 Apprehended For Suspected Retail Theft In Newtown Township

Theft in progress call prompts large police response at the Village at Newtown and on nearby Sycamore Street.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Police apprehended four suspects Wednesday afternoon following a retail theft at the Village at Newtown Shopping Center.

At about 2 p.m., the Newtown Township Police Department, along with various other local police departments, responded to the shopping center for a theft in progress.

The response led to officers flooding the area, including Sycamore Street, in an attempt to apprehend the subjects involved.

"There was never any active threat to the community as a result of the incident,” police said.
