5 DUIs, 3 Retail Thefts Reported By Newtown Township Police

The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between May 3 and May 8.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA —The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between May 3 and May 8:

May 3

  • At approximately 3:30 p.m. police received the report of a theft from a Newtown Township home. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
  • At approximately 6:45 p.m. police were dispatched to the area of the Newtown Bypass and Buck Road for the report of a hit-and-run accident. As a result of the investigation, the fleeing vehicle was located and identified. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
  • At approximately 10 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Chevy pickup truck driver for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Stoopville Road and Millstone Drive. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence, and the driver was arrested.

  • At approximately 2 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Ford SUV driver for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Sycamore Street and Jefferson Court. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

May 5

  • At approximately 2:30 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Subaru driver for committing a vehicle code violation on Durham Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
  • At approximately 10:30 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Hyundai driver for committing a vehicle code violation on Lower Silver Lake Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

  • At approximately 2:15 p.m. police were dispatched for a retail theft at Ulta Beauty. The investigation is ongoing.

  • At approximately 1:45 p.m. police received the report of a retail theft at Lululemon. The investigation is ongoing.
