Arrests Made For DUI, Retail Thefts In Newtown Township

Police also investigated the theft of motor vehicles in Wrightstown Township and a retail theft at a Village at Newtown store.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between June 16 and 20:

June 16

  • At approximately 11:30 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Lexus for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Summit Trace Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of marijuana. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

June 18

  • Police responded to a Wrightstown Township residence for the report of a theft of motor vehicles. The investigation is ongoing.

June 19

  • Police were dispatched to the Lululemon store around 1:55 p.m. for the report of a retail theft in progress. Upon police arrival, four suspects were quickly apprehended after a brief foot pursuit. One adult man was remanded to the Bucks County Prison and is held on $75,000 bail. Three juveniles were released to their parents with charges pending. The theft resulted in a high police presence at the shopping center and on Sycamore Street.

June 20

  • At approximately 12:46 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Ford Ranger for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Wrightstown Road and Durham Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer developed probable cause that the driver was in possession of narcotics, and asked for consent to search the driver and the vehicle. As a result of allowing the officer to search, the officer recovered suspected narcotics. Charges are pending lab results of the evidence.
  • At approximately 11:12 a.m. police were made aware of a retail theft that had occurred the day before at Ulta Beauty. The investigation is ongoing.
