NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — A Bucks County-based brewing company has announced plans to open a new taproom on historic State Street in Newtown Borough.

Bristol Township’s Second Sin Brewing Company said in a Facebook posting that it hopes to have its new taproom at 17 North State Street open by the end of the year.

“We haven't kept it much of a secret over the last couple years that we've been on the lookout for a second taproom location,” the brewing company wrote on its social media page. “Through many fits and starts in several different areas, we're very excited to finally announce that we found our spot!“

The future taproom is located next to the Newtown Borough Hall inside the former location of Rittenhouse Home, which relocated to the Village at Newtown a number of years ago.

“It took a while to find a place that fit our needs, and we think this spot will be a great addition to the Bucks County beer scene - an inviting space to come and enjoy a pint of Second Sin beer,” they wrote. “Follow along with us as we post updates on our progress on social media.”

The brewery, founded by Mike Beresky, Phil Harris, and Jake Howell, opened in 2011 as Second Sin Brewing Company at 1500 Grundy Lane in Bristol Township after Broken Goblet relocated its taproom to Bensalem. Since opening it has built a reputation and a following on its craft beer and its food.

“It almost goes without saying that we couldn't have done this without the undying support of the people that love our beer,” the owners said. “Fret not, our taproom and brewery in Bristol will remain open. This will be a chance for us to get our product in front of a lot of new people, and expanding the Second Sin family.”
