Council Rock Newtown Prepping For Little League World Series Play

The Mid-Atlantic Champions are scheduled to play the winner of the Southwest Region later this week in Williamsport.

NEWTOWN, PA — The Council Rock Newtown 12U Baseball team is in Williamsport this week preparing for its appearance in the Little League World Series after winning the USA Mid-Atlantic Championship on Friday in Bristol, Conn.

The team is scheduled to play on Thursday, August 15 beginning at 7 p.m. at Lamade Stadium in Williamsport when they take on a Little League team from Boerne, Texas, the winner of the Southwest Region. Boerne is located just outside of San Antonio, Texas.

The game is scheduled to be televised on ESPN.

The Newtown team enters the tournament with an 18-0 record after sweeping the Mid-Atlantic tournament and winning the championship round, 5-1, against Washington, D.C., on a rainy Friday morning in New England.

The team includes players from Sol Feinstone, Goodnoe, Newtown, and St. Andrew’s elementary schools.

Council Rock Newtown 12U captured the title of Mid-Atlantic Little League Champions after a win over Washington, D.C., on a rainy Friday morning in Bristol, Conn.

Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant Newtown will be hosting a Give20 booster event on August 15 in support of the team. Throughout the day, Iron Hill will be donating 20 percent of all sales, including all take-out orders, to the team. Simply state that your order is in support of Council Rock Newtown Little League. Iron Hill will also be showing the game at 7 p.m.

The Green Parrot Restaurant Pub & Patio will also be hosting a Watch Party on Thursday, August 15. Call for more information.

In addition, Tranquility Brewing Company in Warminster will be hosting a Little League World Series Watch Party on Thursday, August 15 at 7 p.m. and will be donating 10 percent of all Thursday sales as well as proceeds from a raffle to Council Rock Little League Newtown and the cost of travel and other expenses. "Come watch the game, enjoy a few craft beverages, and let us cook dinner and cheer on our area youth while helping support these great kids."
