Drugs Seized During Traffic Stops, Packages Stolen In Newtown Twp.

Newtown Township Police reported the following incidents and arrests during the past week.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between June 22 and 27:

June 22

  • At approximately 1 a.m. police were dispatched to the area of Cherry Lane in Wrightstown Township for the report of a single-vehicle traffic accident. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

  • At approximately 11 p.m. police were contacted by Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office in regards to a wanted person residing at a Newtown Township residence. As a result of the investigation, the subject was taken into custody at the residence without incident.

June 25

  • At approximately 10:30 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan pick-up truck operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Windy Bush Road and Pine Lane. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug equipment were discovered and seized as evidence and a male passenger was arrested in connection.

  • The Newtown-Makefield Truck Enforcement Unit conducted a commercial vehicle safety detail in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Campus Drive. The unit is made up of officers from Newtown Township, Newtown Borough and Upper Makefield. During the detail, 11 trucks were stopped and inspected. Three trucks were placed out of service and 13 warnings were issued for violations that were found.
  • At approximately 5:45 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Ford sedan driver for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Second Street Pike and Old Anchor Road. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug equipment were discovered and seized as evidence and a female driver was arrested in connection.
  • A Wrightstown Township resident contacted police at approximately 12:30 p.m. to report the theft of packages from their front porch. The investigation is ongoing.
  • At approximately 3:15 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Dodge Neon driver for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and State Street. As a result of the investigation, a small amount of suspected marijuana was discovered and seized as evidence, and the driver was cited for disorderly conduct.
