DUI Charges, Theft, And Fraud Lead Newtown Township Police Report

Police also took a man into custody on an active arrest warrant from the Bucks County Probation Department.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between May 24 and May 30:

May 24

A Newtown Township resident stopped at police headquarters around 1:30 p.m. to report an incident of fraud stemming from the theft of his wallet while he was in Istanbul, Turkey. The investigation is ongoing.

May 27

At approximately 1:45 p.m. police were dispatched for the report of a theft from a gym locker in Newtown Township. The investigation is ongoing.

May 28

Police were dispatched to Cambridge Lane around 9:15 a.m. for the report of a single-vehicle traffic accident. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

At approximately 3 p.m. police were dispatched to the area of West Road to check the well-being of a pedestrian. As a result, a man was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant from Bucks County Probation and was transferred without incident. Suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were also discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.

May 30

At approximately 11:45 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Volkswagen van for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Woodbourne Road. As a result of an investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.
