The historic Newtown Theatre will present “Journeyman – A Tribute to Eric Clapton” on Sunday, April 10 at 4 p.m. Journeyman is the only nationally touring tribute to Clapton, one of the most influential guitarists of all time.

This concert will feature songs from Clapton’s long and distinguished music career, including “Layla,” “Badge,” “The Core,” “White Room,” “Lay Down Sally,” “Tulsa Time,” “Cocaine,” and many more.

“I began playing the guitar around age 12,” says bandleader Shaun Hague. “I just dug into it, that’s all I did. My parents would offer me $20 to go do something and I’d turn it down. At the age of 17, I won the ‘Best Young Blues Guitarist’ at Boston’s House of Blues. That win kind of set the tone for what I was going to do in life.”

“My interest in the blues came about because of Eric Clapton,” he continues. “My dad had the Best of Cream CD and I listened to that when I was really young. I was enamored with Clapton’s playing. His solo in Badge…I was like, what’s that guy doing and how can I do it?! He has so much tone and feel in his hands.”

Hague created the Journeyman show in 2017. In the show, he both portrays Clapton and pays tribute to him.

“I can mimic his singing voice and guitar playing, and I can do little impressions of him,” he says. “But I don’t get up there and start talking in a British accent!”

Tickets for Journeyman are available at TheNewtownTheatre.com for $30 per person or $25 for theatre members. Any remaining tickets will be sold for $40 at the door on the day of the show (if available). All seating is general admission.

Beer, wine, and canned cocktails will be available for purchase at the theatre before the show and during intermission.

The theatre is located at 120 N. State Street in Newtown Borough. For the latest news about the Newtown Theatre visit TheNewtownTheatre.com.
