Irish Festival Kicks Off At The Green Parrot In Newtown

The event continues nightly through St. Patrick's Day with Irish dancing, bands, Irish-themed food and drinks, and lots more.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Green Parrot is celebrating Saint Patrick's Day with nine days packed with Irish-inspired food, drinks, and entertainment.

The 15th Annual Newtown Irish Festival continues through St. Patrick's Day (March 17) with music, dancing, and Irish-themed food and drinks at the Green Parrot Restaurant and Bar at Goodnoe Corner on North Sycamore Street.

The festival kicked off Thursday night, March 7 with a performance by the Irish music band, Shot of Southern, and will continue through Saint Patrick's Day, Sunday, March 17 with plenty of Irish spirit.

In addition to its musical lineup, the Parrot will be whipping up a delicious Irish-themed menu featuring Shamrock sandwiches (corned beef, turkey and ham), Irish chowder, signature corned beef eggrolls, Irish Nachos, Corned Beef Angiolottis, Irish Philly cheesesteak, corned beef and cabbage, Guinness Irish Stew, Bangers & Mash, Shepherd's Pie, Reuben Pasta, and more.

Specialty drinks will include Green Crush, Irish MULE, Lucky Leprechaun, Nutty Irishman, and the Boozy Shamrock Shake.

There is a $10 cover charge on March 9, 10, 14, 15, 16 and 17. There is no cover on March 11, 12 and 13. Reservations are highly recommended. There is a $25 table reservation surcharge up to four guests for 90 minutes.

The festival continues on Saturday with Timoney Irish Dance at 11 a.m., Li Hall and CJ Mills from 12 to 3 p.m., the Fitzpatrick Irish Dancers at 5 p.m., Ray Coleman from 4 to 7 p.m., and LeCompt from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

The entertainment schedule continues:

  • Sunday, March 10 with Shades of Green Irish Dance at 2 p.m. and the Juliano Brothers from 4 to 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, March 13 the festival features the Celtic Flame Irish Dance at 5 p.m. followed by CJ Mills and Shaun Durnin from 6 to 10 p.m.
  • Thursday, March 14 with the Rose Tonkin Duo from 1 to 4 p.m., Coyle Irish Dance at 5 p.m., Guinness Engraving at 7 p.m. and Turning the Tide from 6 to 10 p.m.
  • Friday, March 15 with the Celtic Flame Irish Dance at 11 a.m., Mike Shack and CJ Mills from 12 to 3 p.m., Mike Brill from 4 to 7 p.m., a balloon artist from 5 to 7 p.m. and Go Go Gadjet from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
  • Saturday, March 16 with the Celtic Flame Irish Dance at 11 a.m., CJ Mills and Shaun Durnin from 12 to 3 p.m., balloon artist from 1 to 3 p.m., and Jamison from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m.
  • Sunday, March 17 (St. Patrick's Day) with a Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. with Father Kyle, the Celtic Heirs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Crossroads Irish Dance from 1 to 2 p.m., balloon art from 1 to 3 p.m., the Buzzer Band from 3 to 7 p.m., the Coyle Irish Dance at 7 p.m. and Devlin from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.
