L.J. Shouted Out By His Teacher As An Amazing Newtown Star Student

NEWTOWN, PA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.</p>

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

How do you know the star local student?

I’m his teacher.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

L.J. is an amazing person who has exhibited leadership skills beyond his young age as well as a hard work ethic. He was the lead scorer in the school in a computer math program called First in Math. He encouraged others to play and helped them play difficult games. It led our class to win a first in Math March Madness tournament beating 5th graders. Beyond his mathematical ability, he also worked hard in all other academic areas. While on a family vacation, he challenged himself and completed research projects. When he returned from the trip, he learned how to create Google slides and presented his research. He is constantly learning and no one asks him to do this. This is just who he is. Besides being an avid learner, he is a great communicator. He is able to help others solve friendship issues as he has common sense and speaks kindly to everyone. All of the children in the class looked at him as a leader. L.J. is a special person and I was fortunate to work with him this year.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

In addition to being a dedicated student and leader at his young age, he’s a great and empathetic person.
