Man Charged With Weapon Possession, Prowling At Night In Newtown Twp.

Police make DUI, drug possession arrests; three juveniles charged with latest Lululemon store thefts.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between May 16 and May 23:

May 16

  • At approximately 12:30 p.m. a Newtown Township resident contacted police to report a theft from his vehicle. The theft occurred while the vehicle was unlocked and parked outside of his residence. The total value of loss was under $25.

  • At approximately 1 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a GMC pickup truck for committing a vehicle code violation at the Newtown Bypass and Lower Silver Lake Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were also discovered and seized as evidence. The driver refused to submit blood for chemical testing. Charges are pending.
  • At approximately 4:45 p.m. police were dispatched for a retail theft at McCaffrey’s Food Market. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
  • At approximately 11:45 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Nissan Altima for committing a vehicle code violation at the Newtown Bypass and Summit Trace Road. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug equipment were discovered and seized as evidence. The female driver was arrested.

May 19

  • Police were dispatched to a Newtown Township home at approximately 8:45 p.m. for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, a woman was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant from the Bucks County Sheriff’s Department without incident.

May 20

  • A Wrightstown Township resident responded to headquarters around 3 p.m. to report a theft from her mailbox. She explained that there was nothing of value taken, just a few Mother’s Day cards.
  • At approximately 5:30 p.m. police were dispatched for a retail theft in progress at Lululemon. As a result of the investigation, three juveniles were taken into custody and charged.

May 21

  • Police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence around 1:35 a.m. for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, a man was taken into custody and charged with weapon possession, criminal mischief, and loitering and prowling at night.

May 23

  • A business located in Newtown Township contacted police just before noon to report fraud. A check was stolen from their outgoing mail and forged by an unknown party. The check was flagged and the business did not suffer a monetary loss.
