Newtown Market Day Set For Oct. 5

NEWTOWN, PA — Market Day in Newtown is Saturday, Oct. 5. The annual fall outdoor event, held at Court Street and Centre Avenue, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

It will feature a variety of high-quality crafters, artisans and fine artists, colonial-era demonstrations, reenactments, kids activities, live entertainment, food, and more.

The event is organized by the Newtown Historic Association.

Here are some of the activities scheduled:

  • Hayrides: A Better Way Belgians will offer hayrides pulled by their Belgian Draft Horses. ($4/per rider; cash only.)
  • Children's Puppet Show: Presented by the Penn's Woods Puppet Theatre, this puppet show will be held in the Boone Garden on Court Street. Show times are 11:00 am, 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
  • Revolutionary War Encampment: The backyard at the Half Moon Inn will be set up like an outdoor encampment. Includes loud gun discharges with blank ammunition.
  • Candle Dipping: Candle dipping will be held the Boone Garden across the street from the Half Moon Inn. Participants can dip their own candles the old fashioned way.
  • Make a Scarecrow: Scarecrow making will be held inside the Half Moon Inn (Materials fee: $10/person; cash only).
  • Kids Craft Project: Free kids activities will be held at Washington Crossing United Methodist Church.
  • Live music: Bill Dooley and The Coyotes will perform live folk music at the corner of Center and Court Streets from noon to 4 p.m.

Food will be offered by the following vendors: Joseph’s Premiere Events & Catering; Nina’s Waffles & Ice Cream Truck; Best Darn Kettlecorn; The Market at Styers Orchards; and Local Harvest Pizza Truck
