Newtown Twp Cancels All Summer Camps Due To Coronavirus

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Newtown Township has decided to cancel its summer camps due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The township had been waiting to make a final decision, but in the end determined it was safest not to hold the camps.

"This decision was not easy but our top priority is the safety of all campers and staff," an announcement from the township said.

All camps —including Camp Newtown, Teen Camp, Camp Beechtree, Playground Camp and Sports Camp — are canceled.

Everyone who had already registered will receive a refund for the amount paid. Those who choose to keep their child enrolled will get the rates paid in 2020 for next year’s camp.

Those who want to utilize the 20201 discount option should notify the township Parks and Rec Department by June 1. The phone number is 215-968-2800, ext. 239.

All registrations made more than 120 days ago (on or before Feb. 1) will be processed by check and mailed within the next three to four weeks. All other refunds will take up to 10 business days to process.
