NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Motorists who have been dealing with nighttime milling and paving operations along the Newtown Bypass will soon find it smooth sailing once again.

Since June, construction crews have been milling and repaving the Newtown Bypass (portions of Route 413 and 332) during overnight operations between Swamp Road and Newtown Gate Drive/Summit Trace Road.

"We are completing the paving next week (Sunday and Monday, July 30 and 31)," a PennDOT spokesperson told Patch. "And we will be following that up with a saw and seal at night and line striping."

A "saw and seal" is the process of trimming excess asphalt from along the edges of the roadway and then sealing the new layer of asphalt against the elements.
