WRIGHTSTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — When law enforcement officials served a search warrant at Narrow Way Farm last week, they found more than just neglected and dead farm animals.

In addition to investigating the largest case of farm animal cruelty and neglect in collective memory in Bucks County, the Newtown Township Police Department is looking into potential drug-trafficking offenses against the owner of the farm.

While executing a warrant at the Wrightstown farm on August 8, police discovered and seized more than 75 pounds of suspected marijuana, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

While searching for animals inside the main house, Newtown Township Police found 15 lawn bags of a green leafy substance that appeared to be marijuana in the attic and one lawn bag containing what appeared to be marijuana in the dining room, the affidavit said.

Police also located and confiscated empty mason jars, cellophane wrapping material, and a mason jar containing suspected THC/CBD oil with $80 written on the lid. In total, approximately 75 pounds of suspected marijuana was discovered and seized, the affidavit says.

An investigation showed that the farm owner is not licensed to grow marijuana or otherwise sell CBD or THC products, court documents said.

In addition, police found two handguns in a closet in the second-floor bedroom and several long guns in the first-floor laundry room in an unsecured gun safe, court documents say.

Police seized the firearms for safekeeping until the homeowner can retrieve them.

Charges have not been filed against the farm's owner, but law enforcement continues to investigate possible drug trafficking violations, neglect of animals, and related offenses.

After receiving complaints from local residents and talking to farm workers, the Newtown Township Police Department and the Bucks County SPCA obtained a search warrant to investigate the farm. The warrant was executed on August 8.

The SPCA identified and rescued 124 animals at the farm, including 58 goats, 49 chickens, 10 pigs, 5 sheep, and 2 steers. An additional two animals were found dead at the property.

"Our team has been fast at work buying food and supplies while our veterinary team, with assistance from consulting large animal veterinarians, has evaluated nearly all the animals and begun treatment plans for those that are sick or injured," reported the SPCA.

"We are happy to report that nearly all the chickens have already been adopted," continued the SPCA. "We received nearly 200 rescue assistance requests to help the animals rescued from Narrow Way Farm. Thank you for your patience as we work through them.

"And thank you to everyone who has donated toward their recovery. We promise to use your gifts as intended to help provide the good food, shelter, and medical care these animals need and deserve," said the SPCA.
